ICC Warrant for Israeli PM: On Thursday (November 21), a warrant has been issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and many others. Regarding which Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris said that now if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu comes to Ireland, he will be arrested. This is the first time that a European country has shown an eye to Israel in this way. At the same time, the Prime Minister of Hungary directly refused to accept the warrant of the International Court.
What did the Irish PM say about the warrant?,
Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris was asked by national broadcaster RTE on Friday (22 November) whether the Israeli Prime Minister would be arrested if he came to Ireland for any reason. Responding to this, the Irish PM said, “Yes of course! We support the International Court and also implement their warrant in our country.” He said, “Ireland has signed the treaty recognizing the International Court of Justice. In such a situation, it is the duty of the member countries to arrest the accused wanted by the International Court, although they are not forced to do so.
Hungary refused to accept the warrant
At the same time, Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Obern has condemned the arrest warrant of the International Criminal Court issued against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said on Friday (November 22) that he will defy it by inviting the Israeli PM to his country. In a statement to state radio, Auburn accused the International Criminal Court of interfering in the current conflict for political purposes.
The Hungarian PM said that the decision to issue a warrant against the Israeli PM over the war in Gaza has ignored international laws and further increased tension.
Warrant issued against many including Israeli PM
The International Criminal Court on Thursday (21 November) issued an arrest warrant against Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister and Hamas officials. In the warrant issued, the said people have been accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with the war in Gaza and the October 2023 attacks.
